Defying gravity

The song I am listening to right now is Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked. My cousin Hannah introduced me to this song and I am glad that she did. I listen to it now a lot.

Elphaba is amazing in this song. She was not afraid to go against society’s norms…she flew on her own. She defied gravity. She courageously declares in this song, "And if I am flying solo, at least I am flying free…"

On the other hand, I always have to remember too that later on, Elphaba died sad and lonely. Nobody she loved was beside her when she died.

Sometimes, one gets tired of defying gravity too much.

Sometimes, one wishes for a staid and normal life — a happy family and a good dog…a small house with a garden…cooking dinner, keeping house.

Sometimes, one would rather be on the ground instead of flying around, defying gravity.
