Stupid Ba?
Friday, February 10th, 2006Just an hour ago, I got a phonecall from The Frog. He asked me to look out of my window. I did and yes, he was standing out there under the lampost. He asked if I wanted to go to Fiddler’s with him tonight. I looked at my clock and I saw that it was already 11:00pm. Two things clicked inside me: First, I am a dalagang Pilipina. I can’t just be at his beck and call. He can’t just call me late at night and expect me to go running out to him, right? Like a real dalagang Pilipina, I should be a bit pakipot naman…hard-to-get kuno! Second, according to my handbook, The Rules (!!!!!), I should only consider invitations from guys made at least three days in advance. It is a Friday night right now, so he should have asked me at least Wednesday afternoon, right?
So, to The Frog’s question, I replied, "I’m sorry…I’ve got stuff to read. Thanks for inviting me though. Bye." I tried to sound demure and light…yun kasi ang sabi ng The Rules.
Experiment, experiment. Will the dalagang Pilipina and The Rules ploys work on American boys? Abangan ang susunod na kabanata.
(But gosh…I really would love to be at Fiddler’s with him tonight. Stupid, stupid. And yeah, I know I said he’s a Frog, but I can’t seem to get rid of him!)
